ISC Secretariat Concludes Working Visit to Phnom Penh Ahead of ISC-2

The Secretariat of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) concluded a two-day

working visit to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in preparation for the Second Inter-Parliamentary

Speakers’ Conference (ISC-2), set to take place in the Cambodian capital this August.


The delegation, led by Secretary General Ek Nath Dhakal, attended its first meeting with the

Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia led by Senator H.E. Ngy Chanphal, Permanent Vice Chair

of the Organizing Committee for ISC-2 to discuss logistical and conceptual arrangements for the

upcoming conference.


The Secretary General was accompanied by 9 distinguished representatives from the ISC

secretariat including Advisor Prof. Hyun Sup Do, Ambassador Misbah Khar, and Managing

Director Man Ho Woo, among others.


The Secretariat also toured the GDT Conference Center, the state-of-the-art venue that will host

ISC-2, to assess its facilities ahead of the event.


The visit concluded with a courtesy call on Interim Senate President H.E. Ouch Borith at the

Senate of Cambodia, during which both sides reviewed the latest progress in the conference

preparations.


ISC-2 will be jointly hosted by the ISC, the Senate of Cambodia, and the National Assembly of

Cambodia. The preparation for the upcoming conference is closely supervised by Cambodia

Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen and ISC Chairman and Pakistan Senate Chairman

Hon. Syed Yusaf Raza Gilani.


With the theme “Solidarity for Peace and Shared Prosperity —Strengthening International Law

and Resolving Conflicts Peacefully”, the upcoming ISC-2 will further cement the Conference’s

role as a leading platform for inter-parliamentary diplomacy in the region and beyond.
